The Peoria Smith Review

Poetry from the soul, or as the mood strikes me.
I love to write.

The final sunset is too far ahead

Posted by Frederick E. Smith on March 7, 2012 at 7:10 PM

The final sunset is too far ahead

and I am too content

with this day to consider what was said

in anger, in the moment

with our voices raised in pride and volume,

shattering the silent air

with waves of pain and anguish in that room

where we could never share

Now only echoes fill the space

and faintly so. We cannot

hear them now. Time will replace

them with a healing knot

that binds us from what used to be

and while we are content

with what we have today you cannot see

the moments I resent.
